What will your accommodations be like at a dude ranch? How are the beds? Is there indoor plumbing? Good questions all, except for the last one – of course we have indoor plumbing, except for the horses and cows and wildlife – we leave that to them.
How are our ranches alike? Each one offers comfy beds, western room décor, and the amenities you would expect at any fine lodging establishment. Soft towels, soaps and shampoos (possibly custom blended for the ranch by local artisans) can be found at most ranches. Some even include mini-refrigerators, coffee makers or snacks in your room.
We inspect our member ranches on a regular basis for cleanliness and neatness and adherence to our strict standards. You deserve nothing less.
How do our ranches vary when it comes to accommodations? We are ranches, after all, not chain hotels, so each ranch’s accommodations are unique. Most ranches offer a combination of family cabins and/or individual lodge rooms. We try to keep families together in lodging that provides individual sleeping rooms joined to a central living area (some with fireplaces) and other sleeping rooms. A few ranches have lodge accommodations only, but you will have plenty of room and private baths at these ranches.
All our ranches are modern, but they may be old – historic and rustic even – that’s what makes us special. You might find antique comforters or quilts on the beds and old-fashioned dressers and poster beds at some ranches. We want you to experience the West, so we certainly emphasize that – while we assure your comfort and safety.
You won’t find locks on the doors or air conditioning – we don’t need either. Our nights are cool and quiet and our cabins and lodges safe because we are so far off the fast lane of life. We don’t have televisions or phones or the Internet in our rooms either. We assume you want to leave those intrusions behind or you wouldn’t be exploring a dude ranch vacation in the first place.
Almost all ranches have game rooms and other gathering spots where you can enjoy a board game. We also have main lodges where you can find a quiet corner to read that good book you brought along, or simply rest and rejuvenate your soul by a softly burning fire. We are famous for our front porches hung with wildflower planters and humming bird feeders. There are enough rocking chairs and spectacular scenery for everyone.
